Usman was a resident of Azamgarh district of UP.

Brigadier Muhammad Usman, popularly known as Sher of Nowshera, was born in Bibipur village in Azamgarh district. The spirit of patriotism was in his blood since childhood.

Actually, father Khan Bahadur Muhammad Farooq was an officer in police while mother Zamirunnisan was a domestic woman.

He did his higher education from Allahabad University. At the age of just 23, Muhammad Osman moved to the military academy.
