India has achieved a major achievement in the poverty index. On Tuesday, the United Nations informed that in the last 15 years, about 415 million people in India have come out of the poverty line.
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) have jointly released the Global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) report.
People came out of the poverty line in many countries.
It has been informed in this report that 25 countries including India have improved in the Global Multidimensional Poverty Index in 15 years.
Apart from India, countries like Cambodia, China, Congo, Honduras, Indonesia, Morocco, Serbia, and Vietnam have also seen large numbers of people come out of poverty.
People of India continuously coming out of the poverty line.
According to the United Nations data, in April India overtook China in terms of population. According to the report, India’s population in April was 142.86 crore. India has been highly praised in the report.
It has been written in the report that India’s performance is quite remarkable.
According to the information, during the year 2005-2006, about 645 million people were living below the poverty line in the country.
After this, in the year 2015-16, this number decreased to 37 crores, and in 2019-21, this number decreased to 23 crores.
