India and US join hands to work on bilateral drug policy framework: US Special Envoy.

India and the United States on Thursday agreed to work towards a comprehensive and in-depth bilateral drug policy framework for the 21st century.

The Biden administration has given this information after the completion of talks between the officials of the two countries.

The Indian delegation was led by Satya Narayan Pradhan, Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

Dr. Rahul Gupta, Director, National Drug Control Policy, said, “In the last few days, we have worked on three pillars.

One is drug prevention and disrupting the network of traffickers and producers of illegal drugs and the other is working on drug demand reduction and harm-reduction.”

Dr. Gupta said, “In this, we will not only see how to help people suffering from addiction, but first of all, we will see how to stop the addiction.

According to Dr. Gupta, the third pillar is actually to ensure that there is a pharmaceutical supply chain and then the pharmaceutical industry is flourishing.
