A tough ban on Russia has been announced by Facebook-owned company Meta.

On Friday, Meta issued a statement saying that the Russian government is prohibited from posting its ads on the social media platform Facebook.

Also, Russia will not be able to monetize itself anywhere in the world on any platform of Meta. This means earning from the meta platform will not be possible.

Meta said it would label the posts of Russian state media. Meta’s security policy head Nathaniel Gleicher said that these restrictions will be rolled out from this weekend.

US tech companies banned.

Earlier, America had censorship of tech companies on behalf of Russia. Russia censored all such posts on Facebook accusing them of presenting a fake military operation of Ukraine.

In this case, Meta Head Global Affairs Nick Clegg said that the Russian Authority ordered that Facebook should stop fact-checking and labeling content.

But Facebook has refused to do so. Because of this Russia has banned the Facebook service.

Youtube and Twitter were banned.

US Senator Mark Warner said in a letter to the CEOs of Facebook, YouTube, and others that companies have a duty to ensure that their social media platforms are not misused by Russia and Russia-affiliated entities.

Google said it has removed hundreds of YouTube channels and thousands of videos over the past few days for violating its policies. Some posts have been removed from Twitter.

Russia retaliated, banned these American tech companies.

Due to Russia’s attack on Ukraine, America has imposed various economic sanctions on Russia. On the other hand, America has started sanctions on tech companies from Russia.

In this case, it started with the social media platform Facebook. Russia has banned the use of Facebook.
