Maharashtra government has extended lockdown restrictions till 31 January 2021 to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the state.
Maharashtra is one of the five states and union territories that account for 60 percent of the country’s total active COVID-19 cases.
Significantly, on 25 March, with the announcement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the lockdown was implemented in Maharashtra like other states.
The state government issued a circular asking people not to go out of the house to celebrate the new year, and to welcome the new year in a normal way.

Do not visit crowded places like civilian beaches, gardens, especially the Gateway of India in Mumbai, Marine Lines, Girgaon Chowpatty, Juhu Chowpatty etc.
Do not let people above 60 years of age and children learn outside the home.

Night curfew will continue in the state from 11 am to 6 am.
