Israel Strikes Iran’s Gas Field: Attack on Iran’s gas field

Meanwhile, Iran has partially suspended gas production. This information was given by the semi-official news agency Tasnim. The Iranian Oil Ministry said that the attack caused a fire, which has been extinguished. Tasnim said that one of the four gas fields in Phase 14 of South Pars caught fire, stopping the production of 12 million cubic meters of gas.

Iran uses gas for domestic purposes

Iran produces about 275 billion cubic meters (BCM) of gas per year, which is about 6.5 percent of global gas production. It consumes it domestically only, as it cannot export gas due to sanctions.

Iran shares this field with Qatar, which Qatar calls the North Field. Qatar produces 77 million tons of liquefied gas from this field with the help of global majors like Exxon and Shell, and supplies gas to Europe and Asia.
