On this tour, America has offered to give an eight-wheeled armored fighting vehicle “Striker” and an M777 gun to India.
Quoting officials from New Delhi and Washington, the leading newspaper reported that the final decision on offering these two devices depends on the conditions imposed by the Biden administration.
Stryker was deployed to Afghanistan to fight the Taliban and there are reports that Biden is planning to send it to Ukraine as well.
The report states that the US has also offered to upgrade 155 mm M777 howitzers with precision-guided long-range ammunition to counter artillery on India’s northern borders.
India already has 145 M777 howitzers, of which 120 are made by Mahindra Defense Systems in association with BAE Systems.
