Like the US, angry over the recognition of two regions of eastern Ukraine as a separate country, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Tuesday announced economic sanctions on Russia.

US Secretary of State Blinken canceled a meeting with Lavrov on Ukraine. US diplomats and other staff have been withdrawn from Kyiv. He is ordered to spend the night in Poland.

The move taken by Russia regarding Ukraine is being criticized all over the world.

America, Britain, 27 member countries of the European Union, and many other countries have also started announcing sanctions on Russia.

Other Western countries fear that if the situation worsens, there could be a major war. Russia is starting diplomatic alliances in the rebel areas of Ukraine.

Biden’s executive order.

In response to Putin’s decision, US President Joe Biden has signed an executive order to stop all US economic activity in the two territories separating Ukraine and importing all goods from there as well as halting investments.

On Monday, Russian President Putin recognized Donetsk and Luhansk as independent countries.

Putin called Ukraine an integral part of Russia. According to the Kremlin, Putin had called the heads of state of France and Germany and informed them about his decision before taking this step.

Putin said that Russia wants Ukraine to give up its intention to join NATO. If Ukraine does this, a solution may still be found.

He had earlier said that if Ukraine joined NATO, it would be a direct threat to Russia’s security.

Russia’s move has thrown the summit between Putin and the US President into a tizzy. This dialogue was proposed to avoid confrontation.
