The incident took place in Uvalde, Texas, a small town with no more than 20,000 people. The name of the attacker is being told as Salvador.

Giving further information, Governor Abbott said that the gunman had entered the Raab Elementary School in Uvalde with a gun and rifle.

The shooter was a resident of a community that is about 85 miles (135 kilometers) west of San Antonio. The Raab Elementary School has an enrollment of just under 600 students.
