Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari Box Office: Manoj Bajpayee’s film released in cinemas after 8 months, earned so much on first day.
After a long gap of about eight months due to the coronavirus pandemic, Mangal on Sunday (15 November) descended heavily into theaters.
It is the first new Bollywood film to be released on 15 October after the central government was allowed to open theaters.
After the cinematic blockade broke, the cinema owners were busy trying to call the audience by putting up old films.
Bollywood films usually release on Friday, but Suraj Pe Mangal was released on the occasion of Govardhan Puja, a day after heavy Diwali. The first day of the film was not very encouraging.
However, the positive aspect is that a little but the audience reached theaters to watch the film.
According to the Bollywood Hungama website, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari, released on nearly 800 screens, did a net collection of Rs 80 lakh on the first day.
Had the coronavirus not been pandemic, this figure would have been much higher.
Let us tell you that theaters have been opened with 50% capacity under special guidelines issued by the Central Government to theaters. Of course, it will affect the collections, but the cinemas are currently trying to bring the audience to theaters.
Covid-19 cases are still increasing in many states of the country. Viewers in these states are not going out as a precautionary measure.
In Overseas too, collections of Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari were very few. In the US, Rs 1.19 lakh was received from 20 screens, while in Canada, the business was worth Rs 7.22 lakh from 5 screens.
Shows canceled in Mumbai
There is news of cancellation of the show on Monday due to less viewers in Mumbai’s Getty Galaxy and Maratha Temple theaters.
According to the leading news website, the show is usually released in these theaters with a minimum of 30 viewers, but given the current situation, the theater management raised the limit to 15 viewers.
Despite this, the show had to be canceled.
Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari is directed by Abhishek Sharma. The film stars Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh, and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the lead roles.
Manoj Bajpayee plays a wedding detective in the film, who spies on a boy or girl before marriage. The film has received a positive response from most of the critics.
The last release before the spread of Corona virus pandemic in India was the English Medium of Irrfan Khan, Radhika Madan and Kareena Kapoor, which hit theaters on 13 March.
Since mid-March, theaters started shutting down due to Covid-19. Theaters were first closed in Delhi till 31 March. As the case grew, the period of theaters’ closures also increased.
