Raghuvansh Prasad Singh Breathed His Last At Delhi’s AIIMS

Raghuvansh Prasad Singh is no more, breathed his last at Delhi’s AIIMS. Former Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh has died in Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Delhi AIIMS). Raghuvansh Prasad Singh died at the age of 74

Former Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh died on Sunday at the age of 74. His condition deteriorated two days ago. He breathed his last in the ICU ward of AIIMS, Delhi on Sunday morning. He was put on ventilator support after having trouble breathing. He was earlier treated at AIIMS in Patna after being corona positive. After recovering, he was taken to Delhi AIIMS for treatment of Post Kovid Merge.

There was recognition among the strong leaders

Raghuvansh used to be identified among the tall leaders. Just three days ago, on 10 September, he resigned from the primary membership of Arjedi and created a stir in the politics of Bihar. However, Raghuvansh’s resignation was rejected by Lalu and said that you are not going anywhere.

However, Raghuvansh’s mind became so sour with the current RJD atmosphere that he continued to issue letters, ignoring Lalu’s appeal. He also wrote a letter to Nitish Kumar to fulfill his unfulfilled dreams. I requested that I tried, but could not complete it. Lalu has also expressed grief over his death.

Five times MP and five times MLA

Raghuvansh Prasad Singh was born on 6 June 1946 in Shahpur in Vaishali district. He represented five-five times in the Lok Sabha-Vidhan Sabha and once in the Legislative Council. He was a Union Minister in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. From youth, Raghuvansh was involved in active politics such that few people outside Bihar know that he was PhD in Mathematics and was also a professor.

He was active in politics before the JP movement. In 1973, he was made the secretary of the United Socialist Party. He was a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from 1977 to 1990. At the same time, he was also appointed as the Minister of Energy in Karpoori Thakur’s government in Bihar. Was elected as Deputy Speaker in the Assembly in 1990. Later when Lalu Prasad’s government was formed, the Chairman of the Legislative Council and later the Minister was also appointed.

Raghuvansh in central politics

Raghuvansha went into central politics for the first time by winning the Lok Sabha elections in 1996. Also won for the second and third time in 1998 and 1999. Member of several committees. Elected to the Lok Sabha for the fourth time in 2004 and as Minister of Rural Development from 23 May 2004 to 2009. Mahatma Gandhi Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) launched for laborers was the first time he started.

In 2009 Raghuvansh was elected to the Lok Sabha for the fifth time. At that time, his party was not included in the UPA government at the Center. Yet Sonia Gandhi proposed to him to be the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, but she refused simply because her party was not given a stake in the Central Government.

Disillusioned with RJD in the last phase of life

Raghuvansh Pasad Singh had resigned from all the posts of the party, including the Vice President of RJD, while undergoing treatment at Patna AIIMS. Efforts were on to convince him that he fell ill again. This time, during treatment at Delhi AIIMS, he also resigned from the party on 10 September. Raghuvansh’s resignation was not accepted by party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. He was angry with his rival Rama Singh’s attempts to enter the party.

The first differences took place on the question of upper caste reservation

Raghuvansh always used to speak the language of Lalu’s mind in typical Gavai style. Raghuvansh used to say what Lalu thought. In the politics of nearly five decades, there was no difference of opinion between the two ideologies, except for just once. About two years ago, when the Center had arranged 10 percent reservation for poor upper castes, the RJD opposed it. RJD MP Manoj Jha then opposed the proposal by playing a tinkle. Raghuvansh did not like it.
