Former Pakistan captain Rameez Raja was unanimously elected as the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday.

He will hold the post for the next three years in place of Ehsan Mani. This will be Rameez’s second stint with the PCB. He was the chief executive of the board from 2003 to 2004.

The special meeting of the board was chaired by the Election Commissioner of PCB, Justice (Retd) Sheikh Azmat Saeed.

Rameez was nominated by Imran Khan, the prime minister and chief patron of the board.

Abdul Hafeez Kardar (1972 to 1977), Javed Burki (1994 to 1995) and Ejaz Butt (2008 to 2011) were former cricketers who held the post of PCB chairman before Rameez, who was a member of the 1992 World Cup-winning team.
