Karnataka Vidyagam Scheme suspended after the death of school children from Corona. Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister S.K. Suresh Kumar said on Saturday that the state government has decided to suspend the Karnataka Vidyagam scheme for some time.

The decision has been taken after a vigorous debate between the ruling and opposition parties Congress and JDS over the continuation of the scheme. The government will conduct an inquiry to find out the real cause of the death of students and teachers.

Media reports have revealed the death of 34 students from COVID after Karnataka Vidyagam started. In a Facebook post, Suresh Kumar has said, ‘This scheme is mainly to help poor school children. Children can neither afford an internet connection nor do they have the means to participate in online classes.

Therefore, the government had asked teachers to organize classes on school grounds, temples or wherever possible, but all were asked to limit the number of students from 15 to 20. ‘

Karnataka government is asking the views of experts on opening school

Health Minister of Karnataka B.C. Sriramullu had said that the government would take a report from a panel of experts regarding the reopening of schools and colleges in the state.

All educational institutions across the country have been closed since the last week of March due to Covid-19. Recently, the Central Government issued guidelines and asked all the states and union territories to consider the reopening of schools and other educational institutions in a phased manner from October 15.

Against this backdrop, the Education Department of Karnataka has asked the Health Department for its views. Sriramullu said, before reopening schools and colleges, we also have to consider the reports received from the panel of experts and doctors including pediatricians and psychiatrists.

Meanwhile, new cases of corona are coming up in the country. In the same way, the number of people recovering from the corona is also increasing continuously. So far, six million people who have been affected by Corona in the country have been cured.

Along with this, five states of the country where corona had 61 percent active cases. According to the information released by the Union Health Ministry, there are a total of 883185 active cases of coronavirus in the country so far.

Out of total cases, 5988822 infected people have been cured so far. At the same time, 107416 infected people have died in the country due to corona.
