INS Tir Leads Cutlass Express-24: Indian Navy’s Maritime Excellence Shines.

INS Tir, the flagship vessel of the 1st Training Squadron (1TS) of the Indian Navy, recently engaged in Cutlass Express-24 alongside 16 allied navies in the waters off Seychelles.

This maritime exercise, spanning from February 26 to March 8, encompassed comprehensive training encompassing theoretical and practical aspects of maritime interdiction operations, seizure procedures, and diving operations.

INS Tir: The inauguration of the exercise was graced by the esteemed presence of the President of Seychelles, accompanied by dignitaries from India, the United States, and various African nations.

Rear Admiral Calvin M. Foster, representing the U.S. Navy 6th Fleet, warmly hosted the event aboard, emphasizing the paramount importance of maritime cooperation and collective dedication in the region.

He lauded the significant contributions made by the Indian Navy towards fostering regional security and stability.

During the sea phase of the exercise, INS Tir’s VBSS team executed boarding operations procedures by boarding the Seychelles Coast Guard Ship LE Vigilant, showcasing seamless coordination.

Moreover, joint diving operations were successfully conducted with counterparts from the United States and Seychelles following a week-long Kathare training session.

Prior to this, INS Tir diligently monitored the Exclusive Economic Zone in collaboration with the Seychelles Coast Guard from March 1 to March 3, engaging in joint exercises with the Seychelles Navy.

In other news, the government of Manipur is set to deport 77 Myanmar nationals, including 55 women and five children, by Monday.

These individuals sought refuge in Manipur following the coup orchestrated by the Myanmar army on February 1, 2021.

The initial group of seven Myanmarese nationals was deported from Moreh border town in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district on March 8, facilitated by the cooperation of the state home department and Assam Rifles.

Meanwhile, Myanmar continues to grapple with internal strife as armed conflict persists between the military and pro-democracy civilian forces for the past three years.

The ongoing turmoil has led to the displacement of over five thousand Myanmar nationals, with many seeking sanctuary in Manipur and over thirty-two thousand in Mizoram.
