Russia’s visit comes at a time when the US has claimed that Pyongyang had given munitions and military equipment to Russia for use in the fighting in Ukraine.
More than 1,000 containers of equipment and ammunition have been shipped to Russia from North Korea, the White House said Friday.

The ministry said in a brief statement that Sergei Lavrov would be in North Korea on Wednesday and Thursday (October 18 and 19). It was not mentioned who he would meet in North Korea or what would be the purpose of this visit.
It is noteworthy that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited Russia last month to meet President Vladimir Putin and visit major military sites.

White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said the US believes Kim is seeking sophisticated Russian weapons technologies in exchange for munitions to boost North Korea’s military and nuclear program.
The White House released several photos in which it can be seen that the containers are being loaded onto a Russian-flagged ship before being taken by train to southwestern Russia.
The containers, according to the White House, were delivered between September 7 and October 1.
