In 1927, MGM studio head Louis B. Mayer and others together considered forming an organization to benefit the film industry.

This was followed by a dinner party at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles in January 1927. A total of 36 people participated in this dinner party, where the proposal to form an organization was discussed.

Everyone at the dinner party supported this proposal. Then in March, officers of that organization were elected under the chairmanship of Douglas Fairbanks.

After this, in May the state permitted this academy as an NGO. First of all, a branch of actors, directors, writers, and technicians was formed in this organization.

How was the Oscar trophy made?

In the year 1927, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences asked many artists to present their designs for the Oscar Award trophy, after which the design made by sculptor George Stanley was preferred.

This trophy is made of metal. At the same time, there is a layer of gold on the idol. Let us tell you that the Oscar trophy is 13.5 inches long and weighs 8.5 pounds i.e. 3.85 kg.
