Gujarat High Court: Shock to Teesta Setalvad from Gujarat High Court, instructions to surrender immediately.

The Gujarat High Court on Saturday gave a big blow to social activist Teesta Setalvad. The court rejected Setalvad’s regular bail plea.

Simultaneously, the High Court directed her to surrender immediately in a case relating to alleged fabrication of evidence to implicate innocent people in the 2002 post-Godhra riots cases.

Court ordered to surrender.

Justice Nirjar Desai’s bench rejected Setalvad’s bail plea. Justice Desai directed him to surrender immediately. It is known that Teesta Setalvad is out of jail after getting interim bail.

What is the matter?

Explain that Setalvad and co-accused and former Director General of Police RB Sreekumar were taken into custody by the Gujarat Police on June 25 last year.

After this, a court sent him to judicial custody on July 2 after his police remand ended.

What was the SIT report?

According to information, Teesta Setalvad came out of jail in September 2022 after getting relief from the Supreme Court.

Last year, the SIT filed a charge sheet in the court saying that Teesta Setalvad wanted to end the political innings of the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi and get him hanged even by creating fake documents in the Gujarat riots cases.

Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Saturday targeted the Congress and other opposition parties on the issue of Uniform Civil Code.

During this, he asked the Congress to “listen to its conscience” and stay away from communal politics.

It is the right time to bring UCC – Naqvi.

He told reporters here that the law was now or never and asserted that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) would ensure equality and justice for all.

The UCC refers to a general set of laws that apply to all citizens of India and are not based on religion in dealing with personal matters including marriage, divorce, inheritance and adoption.
