Interior Minister Says.
Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said: “Disordered professionals must go home .
There will be a lot more police and police personnel present tonight.” Darmanin further said that 170 officers were injured in the unrest, but none were in danger.
Nanterre prosecutor gave preliminary inquiry.
Meanwhile, Nanterre prosecutor Pascal Prache said he had requested that the officer be kept in custody. That decision has to be made by another magistrate.
Based on a preliminary investigation, Prache said, he concluded that “the conditions for the legal use of the weapon were not met.”
The prosecutor said that when the police tried to stop the car on Tuesday, there were three people in it. Nahel managed to avoid the traffic stop by running a red light.
He later got stuck in traffic. Both officers involved in the incident said they drew their guns to prevent him from starting the car again.
According to Prache, the officer who fired one shot said he wanted to stop the car from moving and because he feared the car might hurt someone, including him or his co-worker.
