DSP Sheikh Mehmed Shafi Got The Award Of Excellence

DSP Sheikh Mehmed Shafi got the Award of Excellence.

All India Youth Association honored many police officers of the country with the ‘Award of Excellence 2021’ for their excellent work in the campaign launched to eradicate drug abuse.

These police officers also include Sheikh Mehmed Shafi, DSP Head Quarter of Pulwama. Shafi hails from the Rajar area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

DSP Sheikh Shafi expressed gratitude during a function organized in New Delhi on Saturday on being awarded the award and said that a long battle will have to be fought against drug abuse.

Sheikh Shafi is known throughout the valley for running the ongoing campaign against drug addiction in a different way.

Drug addicts or drug mafia spin in his name. In an exclusive conversation with Jagran, Sheikh Shafi said that his biggest motive for joining the police was to eliminate social crimes, especially drug abuse.

Shaikh believes that more dangerous than drug addicts are its businessmen. Unless and until strict action is taken against that trader, it is not possible to control this problem completely.

Sheikh said that he has been associated with this campaign for 12 years. Meanwhile, apart from the Valley, he also worked in Jammu.

During this, hundreds of drug addicts and those who traded it were pushed behind the bars. Shaikh said that he considers drug addicts to be victims.

Because there are some such situations behind their intoxication, when they are not successful in combating them, then most of them start taking drugs.

Unfortunately, most of them are young people. If we have to overcome this problem completely, then we have to take iron from its traders, not the drug addicts.

The real criminals are the traders. Take advantage of the compulsions of the victims.

NDPS Act is a better weapon against drugs, needs to be used properly, Sheikh said that NDPS Act is a better weapon to check drug abuse, but it needs to be used properly.
