Nadal’s Spectacular Comeback: In the first round, Nadal converted the second match point against the 62nd-ranked Italian player to win the match 6-2, 6-3.

Nadal played a friendly match with Carlos Alcaraz in March and has been sidelined since then due to injury. At the same time, he played his last competitive tournament in the Brisbane Open in January.

Even in this tournament, he was able to play only three matches and had to withdraw from the Australian Open due to injury.


In the other match of the day, world number eight Andrey Rublev suffered an unexpected 4-6, 6-7 defeat against Brendan Nakashima of America, after which he slammed his racket on the court in a tug of war.

Rublev has lost in the first round for the third time in a row. Earlier, he could not go beyond the first round in Miami Open and Monte Carlo also.

At the same time, Nakashima has defeated a player included in the top 10 for the second time in his career. He triumphed over Holger Rune in the Shanghai Open in October of last year.
