West Bengal Assembly Election: Amit Shah on a visit to West Bengal to take stock of the party’s organizational functions in view of the assembly elections.

Union Home Minister and top BJP leader Amit Shah has reached Kolkata for a two-day visit. Sources said that Shah has arrived here to take stock of the party’s organizational activities in view of the 2021 assembly elections.

Today, he will first go to Bankura where he will hold a meeting with party workers and various leaders of the society in Junglemahal. The tribe population is more here and was once occupied by Maoists.

Shah will attend this meeting of workers from 70 assembly seats in the southern part of West Bengal. Apart from this, Shah will have lunch with a Dalit family of Chaturthi village in Bankura district.

Shah was accompanied by BJP national vice president Mukul Roy, national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya. Party workers shouted slogans of ‘Amit Shah Zindabad and Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport.

Shah was received by the party’s national vice-president Mukul Rai, national general secretary in-charge of Bengal Kailash Vijayvargiya, state president Dilip Ghosh and other senior leaders.

During this time, there was a huge gathering of workers outside the airport to welcome Shah. Shah departed directly from the airport at the Westin Hotel. He was earlier scheduled to reach Kolkata on Thursday morning, but he arrived on Wednesday night.

Shah will fly to Bankura in a helicopter on Thursday and will hold an organizational meeting with party leaders and workers from several districts behind closed doors.

On Friday, Shah will dine with a family from Matua community. The Matua community comes from East Pakistan and is seeking citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Shah will reach Bankura and garland the statue of Birsa Munda first. Then there will be an organizational meeting in Ravindra Bhavan. They will then return to Kolkata. On Friday morning, he will first visit the Dakshineswar Kali temple and offer prayers.

After this, he will hold a meeting with party leaders and workers. Will also meet some distinguished people. After that afternoon, the Matua sect, which belongs to the Mahadalit class, will have lunch at the house of one of its representatives.

There will be a meeting with his party leadership at the Saltlake East Zonal Cultural Center (EZCC). After that, he would go to Gauranganagar and dine at the house of a person of the Matua sect.

From there, he will go to the home of famous classical musician Pandit Ajay Chakraborty. After this, return to EZCC and meet again.

Shah will also inaugurate a special program for scheduled castes, tribes, and other backward castes during the Bengal tour. Significantly, 23 percent of the population in the state is from the scheduled caste and 6 percent of the scheduled tribe.
