7-day ceasefire ends, Israel’s ground operation started again in Gaza, and air strikes also continued!
After the temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas ended on Friday morning, PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s army has once again started its ground and air campaign in Gaza.
No agreement has been announced between the two parties to take it forward. Hours before the ceasefire ended, Israel said it had intercepted a rocket fired from Gaza.
Hamas-affiliated media have reported hearing explosions and gunfire in northern parts of Gaza.
The seven-day ceasefire started on 24 November. It was extended twice. During this period, 105 hostages were kept in Gaza, and 240 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails were released.
7-day ceasefire ends: “Hamas violated the operational pause, and in addition, fired toward Israeli territory,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a post on Twitter.
“The IDF has resumed fighting against the Hamas terrorist organization in Gaza.” The ceasefire was scheduled to end at around 7 am local time on Friday.
Thursday’s extension was the second extension of the initial four-day ceasefire that began on November 24. On Tuesday it was extended for two days.
Shortly before the seven-day ceasefire ended, Israel said it shot down a rocket fired from Gaza, while media houses linked to the Hamas group reported explosions and gunfire in northern Gaza,
