At least 12 missiles were reported to have hit the US consulate in Iraq’s northern city of Irbil on Sunday.

According to the information, there has been heavy destruction in the embassy and the fire has spread now. According to a US defense official, these missiles have been fired from neighboring Iran in the city.

Iraqi officials said multiple missiles hit the US consulate. At the same time, America claims that there has been no damage due to this attack nor has there been any casualty in this attack.

Iraqi security officials said there were no reports of casualties in the attack, but the embassy was heavily damaged in the midnight attack.

The incident is being investigated by the Iraqi government and the Kurdish regional government.

The official said in a statement that the US condemned “a humiliating attack against Iraqi sovereignty and a display of violence”.

Fears of retaliation by Iran.

Iraqi officials said the attack came days after an Israeli strike near Damascus, Syria.

A top Iranian general was killed in the attack, in retaliation for which Iran fired several missiles at the al-Assad airbase where US troops were stationed.

More than 100 soldiers were seriously injured in the blasts.
