The Azhimala temple with the tallest statue of Lord Shiva in Kerala has been opened to the public.

The construction of a 58-feet-high statue in the form of Gangadhareshwara on the rock of Azhimala Beach near Kovalam here began six years ago.

Behind the construction of this statue is the hard work of 29-year-old Devadathan, who started the construction of the statue at the age of 23 while studying fine arts.

He told that since this statue was being built on the sea side, special care was taken to make the construction resistant to water and salinity.

Such chemicals were mixed with cement, which can withstand saltwater. For this, research was done after drawing and making 3D images. The density of the rock, wind load were also investigated.

Bobby Chemmanur, president and managing director of Bobby Chemmanur International Group, who bought the couple’s property.

He said, he would hand over the land documents to Rahul and Ranjith, the deceased couple’s sons.

However, Rahul and Ranjith have refused to accept the proposal. He thanked Bobby Chemunar and politely declined his offer.

He said that Vasant must have given fake documents and he has no rights over the property.

Bobby Chemmanur has said that even if Vasant has given him fake documents, he will deal with it legally.

Earlier, the state government and the Youth Congress provided financial assistance to the children of the deceased couple.
