T20WC 2021 SA vs SL: All eyes on Quinton de Kock in the match between South Africa and Sri Lanka.
Quinton de Kock, who pulled out of the last match for refusing to take a symbolic stand on one knee in the campaign against racism, is likely to take the field in the Super-12 T20 World Cup match between South Africa and Sri Lanka on Saturday.
De Kock had made himself available for the remaining matches of the T20 World Cup by issuing a statement on Thursday.
He said that if getting down on his knee helped educate others, he had no problem in doing so.
De Kock said that he was called a racist for not doing so before the match against West Indies, which caused him a lot of pain. South Africa won the match by eight wickets.
De Kock’s return will give a boost to South Africa’s top order and the left-handed batsman himself will try to silence the critics by playing big innings.
South Africa captain Temba Bavuma has scored 12 and two runs in the World Cup so far and will be looking forward to getting back into form.
South Africa has batsmen like Reeza Hendrix, Raise van der Hussain, Aiden Markram and the reliable David Miller who can tear apart any attack and Sri Lanka is no exception.
T20WC 2021 SA vs SL: South African batsmen, however, will have to be on guard against Sri Lankan spinners Wanindu Hasaranga and Mahesh Teeksha.
South Africa’s bowlers performed brilliantly against the West Indies. Fast bowler Dwayne Pretorius took three wickets in this match.
They have Kagiso Rabada and Enrique Nortje as the two best bowlers of the last overs and their role will be crucial in the next match as well.
Keshav Maharaj and Tabrez Shamsi, both the South African spinners, will also have to play an important role.
Sri Lanka will have to start afresh after forgetting the seven-wicket loss at the hands of Australia. Charit Aslanka’s good form is a positive aspect for him.
Kushal Perera, who started well against Australia, needs to play big innings. The frequent failure of openers Pathum Nishanka and Avishka Fernando will be a matter of concern for the team management.
The flamboyant Wanindu Hasaranga and Bhanuka Rajapakse will also play important roles.
Sri Lankan pacers Chamika Karunaratne, Dushmantha Chamira, and Lahiru Kumara could not walk against Australia. They have to bowl in the right areas to stop the South African batsmen.
The role of the dew will also be important in the match. The result of this match will be important for both the teams and hence they will not want to leave any stone unturned.
