In the IPL 2021 auction, former Rajasthan Royals captain Steve Smith was bought by Delhi Capitals for 2.20 crores while his base price was Rs 2 crores. He was released by Rajasthan from this season.

It was surprising to see a player like Smith who did not bid much, and now Michael Clarke, the former captain of the Australia cricket team, has said that he can probably refuse to play in the 14th season of IPL.

Michael Clarke said that it could happen that Smith refuses to play this season, probably because of being bought for less money.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals retained Smith for 12.5 crores in the year 2018 and he was the captain of the team last season.

Under Smith’s captaincy, the team’s performance was very poor and this team was at the bottom of the season.

Michael Clarke said on the Big Sports Breakfast Podcast that, I know that his performance in IPL has not been as he would have liked. The previous season was also very bad for him.

I wonder if the money he has received is less than 4 lakh dollars, but it is also a good amount. However, the amount he received last year and he was also the captain of Rajasthan.

Right now they also have hamstring strains, so anything can happen. Smith scored 311 runs in the UAE last season with three half-centuries in 14 matches played for Rajasthan.

Clarke said that Steve Smith is not the best batsman in the world, but he is not far from it. Virat Kohli is number one but Smith is also one of the top three batsmen in the world.
