Sixteen People Arrested For Threatening Siddaramaiah

Sixteen people arrested for threatening Congress leader Siddaramaiah, and CM Basavaraj Bommai ordered an inquiry: Karnataka.

Police have arrested 16 people in connection with the death threat to former Karnataka Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah.

Karnataka Police has given information about these 16 arrests on Saturday.

Kodagu superintendent said that a total of 16 people have been arrested in Kodagu district for threatening to kill Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah.

9 people have been arrested from Kushalnagar and 7 in Madikeri. All these will be produced in the magistrate’s court.

16 people were arrested in a threat case.

Kodagu district’s SP Capt. Ayappa MA said that these people have been arrested in connection with the threat to kill Congress leader Siddaramaiah.

He said that 9 people from Kushalnagar and 7 from Madikeri have been arrested. The Congress leader had claimed that he had received death threats after his remarks on Veer Savarkar.

CM Basavaraj Bommai ordered an inquiry

Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had ordered a probe into the matter. He said that the government has taken this issue very seriously and directed a thorough investigation.

He told that I had also called the Director General of Police and spoke to him. Police will investigate the matter.

I have directed the Leader of the Opposition to provide adequate security. No one should make such a statement that should provoke the mind of others.

What is the matter?

Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had to face strong opposition from BJP workers during his visit to the Kodagu district.

Congress workers had demanded the arrest of persons who threw eggs at Siddaramaiah’s vehicle during his visit.

Significantly, Siddaramaiah had commented on Savarkar. On which BJP workers opposed him.

Condemning the incident, Siddaramaiah had alleged that the BJP had hired people to oppose him.

Siddaramaiah warned the BJP that he would teach them a lesson once Congress comes to power in the next year’s assembly elections.
