Samsung Became The World’s Top Smartphone Brand

Samsung became the world’s top smartphone brand, known for the ranking of Apple and Xiaomi.

Samsung Electronics has made first place in the global smartphone market for the first time. The company has achieved this feat in the third quarter of this year.

At the same time, Apple managed to secure second place with the launch of the iPhone 13 series. This was disclosed by the global market research firm Canalys.

Samsung ranked first with a 23 percent market share. Apple got a second-place just like last year. But the market share increased to 15 percent in the third quarter of 2021 from 12 percent in the previous year.

Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi ranked third in terms of global smartphone market share. Although Xiaomi’s market share remained the same as last year at 14 percent.

Vivo’s market share in the global market increased from 9 percent last year to 10 percent in the third quarter of this year. Similarly, Oppo’s market share also increased from 9 percent to 10 percent this year.

Their market share did not increase.

The Samsung brand managed to occupy the first position in terms of global smartphone market share. But Samsung’s market share has not registered an increase compared to last year.

While Apple’s market share grew the most at 3 percent. Whereas Vivo and Oppo registered an increase of 1 percent. But there was no change in the market share of Xiaomi compared to last year.

Lack of chipset.

According to the report of Canalys, in the third quarter of this year, global smartphone shipments have registered a decline of 6 percent compared to last year.

The reason for this is believed to be component and chipset shortage.

According to Ben Stanton, Chief Analyst of Canalys, the price increase has been done by the chipset manufacturing companies in order to reduce the high order orders.

But the problem of chipset shortage is expected to continue till the year 2022.
