Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s 77th birth anniversary today, Prime Minister Modi and other leaders including Rahul Gandhi paid tribute.

On Friday (August 20) on the occasion of the 77th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi remembered his father and paid tribute at Virbhumi.

On this occasion, Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury also reached Virarbhoomi and paid tribute to him.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi by tweeting. The Congress party celebrates the birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi as Sadbhavna Diwas.

Rajiv had earlier talked about making the country self-reliant – Adhir Ranjan.

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury while remembering Rajiv Gandhi said, ‘Rajiv Gandhi had given a message that India is an old country but is ready to move ahead with a new approach.

His message was to make India strong and self-reliant. The talk of self-reliance is happening now, Rajiv Gandhi has done this thing long ago.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi paid homage by reaching Veer Bhumi on the occasion of his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary.

Remembering Rajiv Gandhi on his birth anniversary, Rahul wrote in his Facebook post, ‘Only a secular India can survive’.

Indian Youth Congress workers will pay tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion of ‘Sadbhavna Diwas’ across the country.

On this occasion, programs like photo exhibitions, cultural and sports programs, ‘Run for Nation’, blood donation camp, etc. will be organized at the state, district, assembly constituency, and block level.

Born on 20 August 1944, Rajiv Gandhi took charge of the country in 1984. He was the Prime Minister of the country till 2 December 1989.

In May 1991, Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by an LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) suicide bomber during an election rally in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
