A red alert has been issued for 10 dams, while two gates of Kakki Dam have been opened in view of heavy rains and severe floods in Kerala.

The visit to the Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala has also been banned for the time being. On the other hand, the death toll due to rain and floods in the state has risen to 35.

The opposition Congress surrounded Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and said that the Left government was negligent in taking necessary steps.
