Punjab’s New CM Charanjit Channi Took An Oath
Punjab’s new CM Charanjit Channi took an oath, Saini and Randhawa also took oath as Deputy CM.
Congress’s stalwart Dalit leader Charanjit Singh Channi took oath as the Chief Minister at the Punjab Raj Bhavan. The governor administered the oath to him.
Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and OP Soni also took oath as Deputy Chief Ministers with him. Rahul Gandhi could not reach the swearing-in ceremony.
He arrived after seeing the CM and both the CMs taking the oath. He arrived about 10 minutes late.
Rahul Gandhi reached the swearing-in ceremony 10 minutes late.
Earlier, there was a possibility of Rahul Gandhi attending the swearing-in ceremony, but he arrived after taking the oath. Channi is the first Dalit Chief Minister of Punjab.
He has become the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab. Outgoing Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh did not attend the swearing-in ceremony.
Before the swearing-in ceremony, Charanjit Singh Channi reached to meet Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Rawat.

In the ceremony, Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa including Captain Amarinder Singh, most of the ministers of the cabinet, and many Congress MLAs also reached.
Sania Gandhi reached Chandigarh but went straight to Shimla.
On the other hand, it is said that Congress President Sania Gandhi had come to Chandigarh in the morning, but she did not talk to any leader of Punjab and went to Shimla.
Earlier, Charanjit Singh Channi left his official residence in Sector 2 and went to JW Merit, Chandigarh, and reached Raj Bhavan along with central observers.

After attending the swearing-in ceremony, Channi will go straight to the Chief Minister’s office where he is scheduled to address the media at 12.30 pm at Punjab Bhawan after assuming office.
The program for the swearing-in ceremony was kept very limited. The media was also not allowed to cover it. The program was telecasted live.
Jakhar said that Rawat’s tweet hurts the dignity of the Chief Minister.
On the other hand, former state Congress president Sunil Jakhar has said in a tweet that Punjab affairs in-charge Harish Rawat have hurt the dignity of the chief minister’s post.
Harish Rawat said that the 2022 elections will be fought under the chairmanship of Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Before taking an oath, Channi paid obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Katalgarh Sahib in his constituency, Sri Chamkaur Sahib. His family was also with Channi.
Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Rawat and Congress’s central observers Ajay Maken and Harish Roy Chowdhury were also present at Channi’s swearing-in ceremony.
