Professor resigned from IIT Madras citing caste discrimination as the reason. An assistant professor at IIT Madras has resigned from his post.

In his resignation letter, he has also cited caste discrimination as one of the reasons for leaving the job.

In his resignation letter, an assistant professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences of IIT has written that he had to face caste discrimination since he started his job in March 2019.

The mail is expected to take appropriate steps to improve the situation.

Along with this, demand has been made to set up a committee to look into the experiences of teachers belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Castes.

IIT has not yet commented on this. But a separate statement has been issued saying that the institute is not reacting to this email.

Whatever complaint the institute receives from any employee or student, action is ensured by getting it investigated promptly.

The resignation of the Assistant Professor is being widely seen on the internet media. This has also been retweeted by Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle. This organization also has a branch at IIT Madras.

Along with Jammu and Kashmir, ‘delimitation’ should also be done in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Congress urges the Center.

Telangana Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy on Thursday urged the central government to delimit constituencies in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh along with Jammu and Kashmir.

Talking to Media Reddy said, “The process of delimitation will be done after August 5, 2019, under the provisions of Article 170 of the Indian Constitution.

Referring to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in this context, the Congress leader said, “In 2014 under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act.

Both the Telugu-speaking states were given the right to increase the assembly constituencies.

In Telangana, the number of assembly seats increased from 119 to 153 while in Andhra it increased from 175 to 225 seats and it comes under the provisions of Article 170 of the Constitution. ‘

Delimitation necessary with change in the area

There is a change in the state or region due to population and other reasons and hence the process of delimitation is necessary in order to organize representation.

Under the delimitation, the reserved seats are determined with the appropriate division of the assembly constituencies according to the population.

This process is done on the basis of area, population, geographical and political situation, communication facility, and contemporary reasons.
