Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme: Big Scam In Punjab

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme : 1364 crores given to 20 lakh ineligible beneficiaries, Punjab and Assam at the forefront.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme, Rs. 1,364 crore has been paid to 20.48 lakh unqualified beneficiaries.

This information has been given by the Union Ministry of Agriculture in response to the information sought under Right to Information (RTI).

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme was started by the Central Government in the year 2019.

Under this, marginal and small farmers are given a total amount of six thousand rupees in three equal installments in a year.

In response to the RTI application, the Union Agriculture Ministry stated that two categories of ineligible beneficiaries have been identified.

Of these, the first category is farmers who do not meet the qualification, while the second category is of farmers who have filed income tax.

RTI applicant Venkatesh Nayak has obtained these figures from the government. He said, more than half (55.58 percent) of the unqualified beneficiaries are in the income tax payer’s category.

The remaining 44.41 percent are farmers who do not meet the qualification of the scheme.

He said that according to the media reports, the process of recovering the amount paid to the ineligible beneficiaries has been started.

He said, the government’s own figures indicate that the amount went into the wrong hands.

The RTI applicant said that according to the data, a large number of ineligible beneficiaries are in five states – Punjab, Assam, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.

According to the information, Punjab is at the top with 23.16 per cent (ie 4.74 lakh) of the total disqualified beneficiaries.

It is followed by Assam with 16.87 percent (3.45 lakh) ineligible beneficiaries. He said that an unqualified beneficiary has been found in Sikkim, the lowest in any state.

The team which came to shoot the film at Bassi Pathanan in Punjab also faced opposition from the farmers.

The film starring Bollywood actress Jahnavi Kapoor stopped him before the shooting started. The shooting of the Hindi film ‘Jerry Number One’ was to begin in Bassi Pathanan from Sunday.

During this time, youths belonging to the peasant movement reached out and shouted slogans against the central government and Ballybud, opposing the agricultural laws.

On this, Laljit Singh and Manish Walia belonging to the unit of the film reached there and told the youth that they too are with the farmers. He assured that he would not shoot till the farmers were satisfied.
