Politics Intensified On Farmer Movement, Opposition Aggressive

Politics intensified on farmer movement, Sonia spoke to opposition leaders, strategy will be made to surround the government.

Politics has also intensified amidst agitations by peasant organizations opposing the new agricultural laws.

Seeing the budget session coming closer, the Congress has started capitalizing on this opportunity.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi has spoken to various opposition leaders to come up with a joint strategy in view of the proposed protest on January 15 against the new agricultural laws.

According to sources, she has sought support from like-minded parties on the issue of farmer agitation.

Sources said that she has spoken to NCP President Sharad Pawar and CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury. She will discuss with more leaders.

Joint strategy will be formed

The Congress President’s discussion with opposition leaders is also considered important in view of the joint strategy for the upcoming budget session of Parliament.

The party’s organization general secretary KC Venugopal has said that the Congress is preparing a booklet, through which people will be told why they are opposing the agricultural laws.

The Congress had said on Saturday that it would celebrate Farmers’ Rights Day across the country on 15 January. In this, there will be a sit-in in front of royalty in all the states.

Disregarded agricultural law

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has made bold comments on the farmers’ movement.

The Supreme Court has said that it is deeply disappointed by the way the government interacts with the farmers.

After the Supreme Court’s comments came out, the Congress has hit out at the government.

The Congress has said that now the Prime Minister should come before the country and declare the cancellation of agricultural laws.

Congress Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said on Monday that the Modi government is ready to make 18 amendments to the laws, apparently, it is wrong agricultural laws.

Provision for punishment for purchases below MSP

Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda also attacked that the Central Government should make a provision for punishment for those who buy grain at a price less than the MSP.

He said, I have been saying from the beginning that if three new agricultural laws have been brought, then bring the minimum support price i.e. the fourth on MSP.

If anyone buys less than the Minimum Support Price (MSP), make a provision for punishment in it. This is what the Supreme Court has said today.

The new agricultural laws are not for the benefit of farmers.

Supreme Court comments

The Supreme Court slammed the Central Government on how to deal with farmers’ agitations against the new agricultural laws.

The Supreme Court said that it was deeply disappointed by the way the government interacted with the farmers.

The court will now set up a committee to find a solution to the dispute.

A bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde, Justice AS Bopanna, and Justice V Ramasubramanian said that we do not want to make any sporadic comments about your conversation but we are very disappointed with the process.

We are not talking about abolishing these laws but the current situation is extremely sensitive.
