PM Modi inaugurates Indo-Bangladesh Friendship Bridge, says – Tripura gets the benefit of double engine.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Maitri Setu on the Feni river between India and Bangladesh on Tuesday through video conferencing.
Apart from this, the PM also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several infrastructure projects in Tripura.
During this, he said that in 2017, Tripura decided to install a double engine of development, and today the results that came due to the decision of this double engine are in front of you today.
During the Bangladesh tour, PM Modi along with his counterpart Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh laid the foundation stone of the bridge connecting Tripura directly with Bangladesh.
PM Modi said that three years before today, AAP had created a new history and gave a strong message to the entire country.
For decades, the people of Tripura had made a new beginning by removing the negative forces that had inhibited the development of the state.
Today, Tripura is clearly experiencing a change in the 30-year-old government and the 3-year government of the double engine.

The PM said that Tripura, which was held back by the strike culture for years, is working for the Ease of Doing Business today.
Wherever there was a chance of locks in industries, there is now a place for new industries, new investment. There has been a big increase in the amount of money that Tripura receives from the central government in the last 6 years.
Between 2009 and 2014, Tripura received Rs 3500 crore from Central Government for central development projects. Whereas more than 12 thousand crore rupees have been provided between 2014 and 19 years.
Double engine government benefits the poor.
The Prime Minister said that where there is no double-engine government, schemes for empowering the poor, farmers, and daughters have either not been implemented or are running very slowly.
The biggest impact of the double engine government is seen in providing pucca houses to the poor. He said that before 2017, 5.80 lakh households in Tripura had a gas connection.
Today, 8.50 lakh households in the state have a gas connection. Before the formation of the double-engine government, only 50 percent of the villages in Tripura were open defecation free.
Today almost every village in Tripura is open defecation free.

The Friendship Bridge is a symbol of growing bilateral relations and friendly relations between India and Bangladesh.
The bridge ‘Maitri Setu’ has been built over the Feni river flowing between the Indian border in Tripura state and Bangladesh.
The statement said that it was completed by the National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited at a project cost of Rs 133 crore. The 1.9-km bridge connects Sabroom in India to Ramgarh in Bangladesh.
