The beheading of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal and the stabbing to death of Amravati chemist Umesh Kolhe took place in retaliation for supporting the statement of Nupur Sharma.
Five accused have been arrested in connection with Kanhaiya Lal’s murder, while four out of seven accused have been taken into custody in connection with the Kolhe murder case.
Umesh Kolhe was murdered on June 21.
According to Amravati city police commissioner Dr. Aarti Singh, the ‘mastermind’ Irfan Khan had allegedly hatched a conspiracy to kill Umesh Prahladrao Kolhe (54).
Umesh was stabbed to death on the night of June 21 at around 10.30 pm near Ghantaghar in the Shyam Chowk area of Amravati.
Irfan Khan hatched a conspiracy to kill Umesh.
According to an officer of Amravati City Kotwali police station, Umesh had a drugstore in Amravati city. He had reportedly shared a post in some WhatsApp groups in support of Nupur Sharma.
Umesh had mistakenly sent this post to a WhatsApp group that also had members of other communities.
According to the official, the main accused Irfan Khan allegedly hatched a conspiracy to kill Umesh and took the help of five people for this.
Irfan Khan (32) was arrested by the Crime Branch of Amravati City Police from Nagpur on Saturday evening.
