Two-time Congress MLA Sushant Borgohain, who was going to the polls from the Thaura assembly seat in Jorhat district, on Friday resigned from the primary membership of the party.
State Congress Committee (APCC) general secretary Apoorva Kumar Bhattacharjee on Saturday accepted the resignation of MLA Sushant Borgohain.
Sushant Borgohain’s resignation was accepted.
The Congress’s Thaura MLA from Jorhat district, Sushant Borgohain, on Friday resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party in response to a show-cause notice.

On Friday, Sushant Borgohain sent his resignation to party president Bhupen Bora via e-mail.
To which Bhupen Bora told that, ‘In his letter, Borgohain appreciated the opportunities given to him by the Congress, but said that due to some recent developments, he would not be able to continue anymore.’
