Mass vaccination campaign in Kerala from today, HC asked – What steps were taken to reduce crowd outside vaccine centers.

The situation of corona in Kerala is deteriorating rapidly. Yesterday, 18,607 new cases of the corona were reported in Kerala and 93 patients died.

With this, the total number of infected people has increased to 35,52,525 and the number of deaths due to corona infection has increased to 17,747.

Since Saturday, 20,108 patients have become infection-free in the state. So far 33,57,687 patients have become infection-free in the state and 1,76,572 patients are undergoing treatment.

The worst-affected districts of Kerala are Malapuram (3,051), Thrissur (2,472), Kozhikode (2,467), Ernakulam (2,216), Palakkad (1,550).

Kollam (1,075), Kannur (1,012), Kottayam (942), Alappuzha (941), and 933 cases have been reported from the district Thiruvananthapuram. Of the infected, 84 are health workers.

Meanwhile, in view of the ever-increasing number of Covid-19 cases, it has been decided to start a massive vaccination campaign in Kerala from today.

According to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, this campaign will run from August 9 to 31.

The vaccination campaign will focus on postgraduate students, lower primary and upper primary school teachers, and final year students.

Apart from this, the first dose of vaccination for senior citizens will be completed by August 15. Patients with comorbidities will be vaccinated at home.

Strong remarks of Kerala High Court.

In Kerala, on the one hand, the mass vaccination campaign against Corona has started today.

On the other hand, the Kerala High Court has asked the state government a serious question regarding vaccination itself.

The Kerala High Court has asked the state government what steps have been taken to reduce overcrowding at vaccination centers.

A bench of Chief Justice S Manikumar and Justice Shaji P Chali raised this question during the hearing of a PIL.

The court made this comment on public interest litigation filed in news reports regarding the crowd seen outside the vaccine centers.

The court has issued a notice to the state government in this matter and sought its response. The next hearing of the matter will be on August 11.
