Kerala Elections: BJP Has Established Its Roots In The State

Kerala elections: BJP has its roots in the Left’s stronghold, Congress is surrounded by its own policies.

After the local bodies, Kerala will now have to prepare for the assembly elections in the new year.

In this last state of the country, which is considered to be the stronghold of the Left parties, national parties like BJP and Congress want to try.

Although the election results of local bodies do not raise much hope for both parties, but to understand the mood of the voter, it can be considered as a rice of pot.

The way in which the BJP seats have increased, it can be felt that there has been a dent in the stronghold of the Left Front.

BJP has opened its account in many places. The situation is critical for the Congress-backed United Democrat Front (UDF).

BJP: Leading 24 seats

If the performance of the BJP cannot be appreciated, then it cannot be ignored. Many seats have been won where it did not exist.

However, despite the ongoing BJP wave across the country and the strong velocity seen in Bengal, it could not freeze that way here.

The party could not win the important seat of Thiruvananthapuram. Despite this it won 24 seats in the Gram Panchayat elections while there were 14 seats in 2015.

The BJP took advantage in Kottayam, Idu and Pathanamthitta districts.

In Kottayam, the party has come to the fore with eight members. From these results, the opinion of Kerala political analysts is that no party needs to be excited or discouraged.

What needs to be kept in mind for all parties is that there is a huge difference in voting pattern in local body elections, assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Sabarimala

In Palakad, a stronghold of the issue of banning the entry of women on the basis of Hindu beliefs in Sabarimala, the BJP was ahead.

Thiruvananthapuram Urban Bodies

Thiruvananthapuram has a large urban population. The BJP has targeted to win this stronghold in the next assembly.

Congress

The Congress-backed UDF party had to bear the brunt of adding the wrong allies. Money from Kerala Congress (M) lost.

It was Chief Minister Vijayan’s masterstroke that Christian votes were cut from Kerala Congress (M) ‘s Jose K Mani from the UDF’s court and moved to the LDF.

It had to bear the brunt of it. Congress could not cash in on the issue of gold smuggling and corruption.

LDF

The results are encouraging for the CPM-backed Left Democratic Front (LDF). The left parties have benefited the most in the district panchayat elections.

The coalition has got 10 seats out of 14. Last time (LDF and UDF) had seven seats each.

Block panchayat

LDF has also captured 104 out of 152 seats. The UDF has only 44 seats.

Village Panchayat

LDF supported candidates have won 514 seats in 941 gram panchayats. The UDF has got only 377 seats.

Result

The results of the local body elections brought great relief to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He emerged as a hero.

His state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had to go on trial in the son’s rods and money laundering case. The opposition also made it a big issue.

Gold smuggling cases also got a lot of names but Vijayan kept counting his achievements. The LDF contested in Kerala divided into three divisions – Christian, Muslim, and Hindu.
