On the day of Republic Day i.e. 26 January, Gurjot Singh, a reward of Rs 1 lakh, has been arrested from Punjab by Delhi Police Special Cell in connection with the Red Fort violence in Delhi.

Delhi Police had announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh to anyone who informed about the arrest of Punjabi actors Deep Sidhu, Jugrat Singh, Gurjot Singh, and Gurjant Singh in this case.

According to the Delhi Police Special Cell, he was arrested from Amritsar in Punjab.

It is worth mentioning that eight people, including Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu and saffron flag hoister Jugraj Singh, who were accused of creating nuisance at the Red Fort on Republic Day, were declared rewarded by Delhi Police Commissioner SN Srivastava.

A reward of Rs 1 lakh each was announced on Deep Sidhu, Jugraj Singh, Gurjot Singh, and Gurjant Singh, and Rs 50,000 each on Jagveer Singh, Buta Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Iqbal Singh.

Deep Sidhu and Gurjot Singh are companions and all the above accused are residents of Punjab.

The mobile phones of the accused were switched off on the night of 26 January and relatives of many accused were also absconding.

Several teams of Delhi Police were raiding in many states including Punjab for the arrest of the accused.

It is pertinent to mention that the agitators opposing the three central agricultural laws had created a nuisance by forcibly entering the Red Fort during the tractor rally on 26 January.

During this, policemen were also attacked. In this case, 16 people including Deep Sidhu have been made accused, including Gurjot.

On the other hand, in the case of violence at Delhi’s Red Fort on January 26, the police have claimed in its charge sheet that the violence at Red Fort was all part of a well-planned conspiracy.

Its purpose was to capture the Red Fort and make the Red Fort a new Protest site so that the new agricultural law of the ruling Modi government at the center could be protested.

It is being told that some more people can be accused in connection with the violence of 26 January in Delhi.
