Kashmiri Pandits Should get a reservation in the assembly: Ashwini Charangoo. By amending the Reorganization Act, reservation should be provided for kashmiri Pandits in the assembly.
BJP leader Ashwini Charangoo have emphasized getting reservations for Kashmir Pandits in the assembly to be constituted in Jammu and Kashmir by amending the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act 2019.
Meeting with Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh in Jammu, he emphasized that five seats in the Legislative Assembly should be reserved for Kashmiri Pandits.
Being a minority community of Kashmir, Kashmiri Pandits should be nominated on the reserved seats. Similarly, they should also get reservations in Parliament.
Charango, referring to the Sikkim and Puducherry Legislative Assemblies, stressed that such arrangements should be made for the Pandits in the upcoming Legislative Assembly in Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, in the meeting, after sending a memorandum to Dr. Jitendra Singh, Ashwini Charangu demanded that meeting should be held to present his side to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
He told that the Pandits had also raised this issue with the Delimitation Commission. Preparations are being made to hold another meeting with the Delimitation Commission in the situation arising out of Corona.
The Kashmiri Pandit leader said that after being displaced from Kashmir, Pandits are facing the brunt of displacement for many years.
Since the formation of the BJP government at the Centre, hopes of a return to the Valley have intensified among the Kashmiri Pandit community.
Kashmiri Pandit community has high hopes from the Modi government. Along with fulfilling the dream of returning to the valley, if they get representation in the valley, it will give strength to the community.
Charango stressed that Dr. Jitendra Singh, being the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, should take action in this direction so that even the Kashmiri Pandits would be able to raise their voice in the Assembly.
He said that the displaced Kashmir Pandits have placed high hopes from the Modi government to become politically empowered in Jammu and Kashmir.
