Kashmir Valley Closed In Protest Against Nupur Sharma

Kashmir Valley closed in protest against the remarks of a former BJP spokesperson, and internet service was suspended.

There was a strike in the Kashmir Valley on Friday. All shops and business establishments remained closed.

In view of the sudden strike, the administration also tightened the security arrangements for the entire plaintiff. Internet service has also been suspended in many parts of Srinagar as a precautionary measure.

The strike is against the alleged objectionable remarks made by former BJP spokespersons toward Prophet Hazrat Muhammad.

Meanwhile, in Bhaderwah and Ramban, where curfew has been continued for the second consecutive day, curfew has also been implemented in Kishtwar.

The situation was completely normal this morning in various parts of the valley including Srinagar, but after a while, all the shops started shutting down.

Soon all the markets were closed. The movement of public vehicles on the roads almost stopped. No organization had called for a strike in the plaintiff.

The strike is against the alleged objectionable remarks made by former BJP spokespersons toward Prophet Hazrat Muhammad.

In view of the sudden strike in different parts of the valley, the administration has made tight security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident.

Deployment of police and CRPF personnel has been increased in all sensitive areas. Security forces have also been increased outside all major mosques and dargahs.

To prevent rumors, the administration has also suspended internet service in some other parts of Srinagar including Down Town till further orders as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, a curfew has been imposed in Bhaderwah, Ramban, and Kishtwar of the Jammu division to control the situation in the wake of communal tension.

The miscreants are being continuously monitored and the elements creating communal frenzy are being identified.

In Bhaderwah, some Muslim leaders made provocative and objectionable remarks against the Hindu community standing on the roof of a mosque.

The police also registered an FIR after a video of the entire episode went viral on the internet media, but there was no information about the arrest of those making inflammatory speeches till this afternoon.
