IREDA Invites Bids From Solar Module Manufacturers

IREDA invites bids for the Centre’s Rs 4,500 crore solar PLI scheme.

The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (IREDA) on Friday invited bids from solar module manufacturers to set up solar manufacturing units under the Centre’s Rs 4,500-crore Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.

The Center had approved the scheme to promote domestic manufacturing of Solar Photo Voltaic (PV) modules. These modules also called solar panels, use sunlight as a source of energy to generate direct electricity.

IREDA is the implementing agency of the scheme.

Let us inform you that the last date for submission of application for the PLI scheme is June 30, 2021. The selection process for successful bidders is to be completed by July 30.

IREDA had released the invitation for application documents on its website on May 25 and the electronic application process went live on May 31.

The ministry said that at present, solar capacity addition mainly depends on the import of solar PV cells and modules as the domestic industry is limited in this sector.

India’s sugar exports so far this year exceeded 42 lakh tonnes: AISTA.

Sugar mills in India have so far exported 4.25 million tonnes of sugar in the current marketing year 2020-21 ending in September. Most of it was exported to Indonesia, trade body AISTA said on Friday.

The All India Sugar Trade Association (AISTA) said in a statement that in January this year, mills have so far contracted to export 5.85 million tonnes against the quota allocated by the Food Ministry.

About 1,50,000 tonnes of sugar are yet to be exported under the quota. Some sugar mills are finding it difficult to trace the small quantity of sugar left with the mills. The Chinese marketing year runs from October to September.

According to AISTA, mills have exported a total of 42.5 lakh tonnes of sugar from January 1 to June 7, 2021.

Out of the total exports made so far this year the maximum exports have been to Indonesia at 1.4 million tonnes, followed by Afghanistan at 5,20,905 tonnes and UAE at 4,36,917 tonnes and Sri Lanka at 3,24,113 tonnes. has gone.
