India vs China: India-China Foreign Ministers Talks

India vs China: India-China foreign ministers talks, Jaishankar said – prolonging the LAC dispute is not in the interest of both countries.

After about ten months, talks between the Foreign Ministers of India and China were once again on the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

S Jaishankar and Chinese counterpart Wang Yi had separate bilateral meetings during the event in Dushanbe for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

In this, there was a special discussion on the situation on LAC. In the talks that lasted for about an hour between the two, there was no consensus on ending the tension.

However, India has made it clear that prolonging the LAC dispute is not in the interest of both countries.

Jaishankar, while presenting his stand before the Chinese Foreign Minister, made it clear that a move to change the status quo on the LAC on his part will not be accepted.

However, both sides are ready to talk further which is a good sign.

After the meeting, Jaishankar himself tweeted that the bilateral meeting with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi lasted for one hour.

The talks mainly focused on the issue of tension in the LAC located in the western region. It was specifically told that a move to change the situation on its own will not be accepted.

For our relations to improve, it is necessary that there is complete peace and stability along the border. We have agreed to hold talks between senior commanders very soon.

It has also been told from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs that it has been agreed to remain in contact between the two ministers.

Another such meeting between Wang Yi and Jaishankar took place during the SCO event in Moscow in September 2020.

In it, a five-point formula was agreed to end the tension on the LAC of both the ministers.

On the basis of this formula, there were several rounds of talks between military commanders, which led to the withdrawal of troops from some tense areas in December 2020 and February 2021.

However, there are still many such areas of the LAC where China is not ready to back down despite making promises.

On behalf of the Ministry of External Affairs, it was told that EAM Jaishankar informed the Chinese side about the agreement reached in the meeting of September 2020 and said that it needs to be fully implemented.

Jaishankar also informed that despite the successful withdrawal of troops in the Pangong Lake area, this has not happened in other areas.

He expressed hope that the Chinese team will work with India again for this goal as the situation has not been able to improve there.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar also said that both sides had also agreed that it is not in anyone’s interest to maintain such a situation for a long time.

This is having a negative impact on bilateral relations. Peace on the border has also contributed to the progress made in India-China relations since 1988.

India vs China: The agreements signed between the two countries in the year 1993 and the year 1996 were also violated by China by changing the status quo last year.

It is in the interest of both sides that whatever the tense situation along the LAC in East Ladakh is resolved expeditiously.

Both the ministers have agreed to hold the next round of talks under the leadership of senior commanders soon to resolve the dispute.

In the upcoming meeting, the emphasis will be on finding an acceptable solution from both sides of the causes of tension.

It has also been agreed that no such step will be taken from both sides which will worsen the situation.
