India’s Service Sector PMI: Growth of the service sector at the highest level of six months, increased employment opportunities.

India’s service sector witnessed a boom in December 2022 due to improvement in services and a spurt in new business.

Such was the strong demand for this sector that after June 2022, it registered the fastest growth in six months.

The production sector also got a boost on the back of increased demand for services and a marginal increase in outstanding business was registered.

The pick-up in demand pushed the S&P Global India Services Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) to 58.5 in December from 56.4 in November, compared to 55.1 in October.

This is the fastest increase in the last six months. It is a matter of relief that since June 2013, this is the 17th consecutive month when the growth rate of the service sector is above 50 points.

A PMI below 50 is considered a declining sector.

These segments got the benefit.

According to information, more jobs were created in the month of December. Firms’ expenses rose sharply, among them energy, food, staff, and transportation costs.

This led to an increase in fees for better services. Inflation trends were mixed, as input prices rose sharply and tariffs accelerated.

Talking about business activity, companies were very excited about the growth of business in the new year, which benefited the service sector.
