Hundreds Of Protesters In Bangladesh Protested Against France
Hundreds of protesters in Bangladesh demonstrated against France. Hundreds of activists of an Islamic political party in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka on Wednesday demonstrated against French President Emmanuel Macron’s support of secular laws.
Under these laws, the cartoons of the Prophet are justified under the freedom of expression.
Banners were carried by protesters of the conservative Islamic Oikya Totte party, who described Macron as ‘the world’s biggest terrorist’. They beat his effigy and burned it.
He also criticized the Sheikh Hasina government and said that Prime Minister Hasina should criticize Macron and France. Hasina has not officially commented yet.
There was also a demonstration at the Betul Mokarram Mosque here on Wednesday. On Tuesday, around 10,000 protesters from another Islamic organization, the Islamic Movement Bangladesh, demonstrated here demanding a boycott of French products.
Islamic-majority countries around the world have been agitated since the Macro’s condemnation of Prophet Muhammad’s publication or display of cartoons.
Demonstration also in Somalia, Iran
Similar protests took place in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu where protesters raised anti-French slogans and set fire to its flags. Protesters gathered in front of the French Embassy in Iran. He had taken placards with anti-French slogans in his hands.
Turkey agitated against crusade against Islam
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday that Western countries making fun of Islam want to start a crusade again. Addressing the MPs of his AK party, Erdogan said that it is an honor for us to stand against the attacks on the Prophet.
Sharley Abdo publishes Erdogan’s cartoon
Fueled by Turkish fury, French magazine Sharley Abdo has published a controversial cartoon of Tayyip Erdogan on its cover page. In protest, the Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned the charge of the French Embassy and filed an objection.
Whereas Erdogan stated that he did not watch the cartoons because he also considers viewing these unethical publications wrong.
Advisory for French citizens
France has issued advisories to its citizens in Indonesia, Turkey, Bangladesh, Iraq and Mauritania amid growing opposition. It asks them to stay away from the protests.
