Grahan Web Series Review: Sensitive Story Of Father-Daughter

Grahan Web Series Review: Sensitive story of father-daughter showing the distorted nexus of society and politics.

Be it any time. Somebody’s government. But in the political picture, the script of the riots looks almost the same.

Everybody knows. Also, understand. But, when the time comes to show understanding, the influx of hatred overwhelms love and humanity.

Some vicious wind turns the spark of hatred buried in the chest into the fire of riots. Waste is left behind and wounds that never heal.

This script never gets old, only the characters and the concerns change, which the politics decide according to its need.

Disney Plus Hotstar’s web series Grahan is a sensitive and thought-provoking tale that unfolds such a distorted nature of society and politics.

The story centered around a police officer’s daughter, the father behind the riots, dark politics, and a haunting secret.

Grahan Web Series Review: The plot, time period, and characters of this story may be set in another era, but the scenes seem as if they are a thing of the past.

By the way, the story of the Grahan is inspired by Satya Vyas’s novel Chaurasi.

The novel was written against the backdrop of the events following Operation Blue Star in Punjab and the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The story of the eclipse mainly runs in two-time blocks spaced three decades apart. Starting from 2016, it covers the events of 1984 and a year or two ahead of it.

Amrita Singh is the City SP in Ranchi as of 2016. Father lives with Gursevak. Honest and dedicated to his work.

The father wants Amrita to get married and move to Canada, where the boyfriend lives, but Amrita is postponing.

Amrita wants to use her power to change society, but the seniors advise her to be practical.

Tired of political interference during the investigation into the murder of a local journalist, she makes up her mind to quit the job but stops at the DIG’s persuasion.

Elections have begun in Jharkhand. Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition is insecure of Sanjay Singh’s growing political clout and to rein in him.

Chief Minister orders the Police Department to resume the investigation of 1984 riots against Sikhs in Bokaro.

Sanjay Singh is believed to be behind these riots, but no evidence or witnesses could be found against him in any investigation.

Amrita Singh is made in charge of this SIT. Amrita is joined by Deputy SP Vikas Mandal, who has a unique record of carrying out every investigation to her name.

The ground slips under Amrita’s feet when initial investigations reveal that her father is Rishi Ranjan, the main culprit of the riots.

Grahan Web Series Review: Amrita wants to know the truth from her father, but he refuses and hides a secret.

He also tries his best to stop Amrita from going to Bokaro for investigation.

Do many questions arise in front of Amrita? Her whole life seems to be a bundle of lies. Amrita decides to go to Bokaro to find out the answers to the questions.

The story of Grahan itself has many emotions. Primarily it depicts the emotional relationship between a father and daughter.

But the series also highlights many more important issues that are relevant even today. The writing team of the series has put these into the narrative through visuals.

The eight-episode web series centers around the pain of the 1984 riots and its SIT investigation. But the love story of Rishi Ranjan and Manu is the gentle and endearing part of the series.
