Five Manipur policemen were arrested for illegally carrying heroin, yaba pills in Manipur.
Five Manipur Police personnel were arrested on Monday along with people illegally transporting a large number of drugs, including heroin and yaba tablets,
These drugs were transported from Moreh town along the Indo-Myanmar border to the state capital Imphal in a police vehicle.
Kakking Superintendent of Police Shrey Vats said in a statement that the narcotics were seized and the arrests were made during a vehicle check in the Kuraopokpi area on National Highway 102.
They were going to Imphal in a Maruti Gypsy police vehicle.
Kakking police are investigating.
Those arrested have been identified as Havildar K Achouba Singh, Constable Y Dineshwar Singh, Riflemen Th Subhash Chothe, M Premchandra Singh, and N Dorendrajit Singh.
An overall of 1.33 kg of heroin and over 80,000 yaba tablets, predicted to be really well worth crores of rupees, had been seized, and 80 thousand rupees cash has also been recovered from an employee.
The arrested people have been handed over to Kaking police for further action. The heroin seized in Manipur is estimated to be worth crores of rupees in the international market.
