ED summons Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut for questioning again on Wednesday. Sanjay Raut is being questioned in a money laundering case related to the Mumbai Chawl redevelopment case.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday summoned Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut for questioning in an alleged money laundering case.

Officials said the cases pertained to transactions involving his wife and ‘accomplices’.

The Shiv Sena MP from Rajya Sabha, a close aide of former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, had denied any wrongdoing and alleged that he was being targeted for political vendetta.

Last time, Raut had described himself as a ‘fearless’ person as he had appeared before the ED in the case. “I’m a fearless person because I’ve never done anything wrong in my life.

If it’s all political, we’ll find out later. Right now, I feel like I’m going to a neutral agency, and I have full confidence.

While leaving the ED office, Raut told reporters, “I gave full cooperation and answered all their questions. If they call me I will appear again.

In April, the ED had provisionally attached assets worth over ₹11.15 crore of Raut’s wife Varsha Raut and two of their associates as part of the probe.

This matter is directly related to Praveen Raut, a close aide of Sanjay Raut. Praveen Raut has been a director at Guruashish Construction, an infrastructure company.

This company is Housing Development Infrastructure Ltd. (HDIL) itself is considered a branch. According to the ED, about Rs 100 crore was sent from HDIL to Praveen Raut’s account.

Then different amounts were sent from Praveen’s account to some of his associates, relatives, and business firms. The ED is also probing the 4300 crore PMC Bank scam.

According to the ED, Praveen Raut had taken Rs 95 crore from this bank embroiled in scams. Out of which he sent 1.6 crore rupees to the account of his wife Madhuri Raut.

Madhuri had given Rs 55 lakh out of this amount as an interest-free loan to Varsha Raut, wife of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut. However, this amount has been returned by Varsha Raut to Madhuri Raut.

But in the same case, the ED is not only interrogating Sanjay Raut but has also temporarily attached his immovable assets worth Rs 11.15 crore last year.
