Dominica Government not involved in Mehul Choksi’s kidnapping: Dominica PM Roosevelt Skerritt.
Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerritt has termed the allegations of involvement in the kidnapping of diamond merchant Mehul Choksi, accused of scam in Punjab National Bank, as “complete nonsense”.
Dominica Government is being accused of kidnapping businessman Mehul Choksi from Antigua and Barbuda.
Roosevelt Skerritt said in his weekly show Enou Palaya that his government would allow the court to complete its process regarding Choksi and assured that his rights and obligations would be respected.
Skerrit denied the allegations of conspiracy to kidnap Choksi from the Caribbean country of Antigua and Barbuda. Where he was living as a citizen since 2018 after fleeing India.
According to the news portal, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerritt said, ‘To say that the government of Dominica and the government of Antigua colluded with India in any way is complete nonsense.
We do not involve ourselves in such activities. Roosevelt Skerritt further said, ‘Whether it would be right for a local citizen who commits murder in Dominica and flees to another country.
Should he be allowed to roam freely or should instead be arrested and sent to Dominica, should be sent back so that he face their charges.
Dominica PM Roosevelt Skerritt said the country cannot treat people differently for who they are or how much money they may have.
We are subject to all laws. In such circumstances, he should be arrested and brought before the court.
Mehul Choksi’s lawyer in Dominica, Justin Simon, claimed that the Metropolitan Police of the United Kingdom has opened an investigation into Choksi’s allegations of harassment and kidnapping.
As Mehul Choksi is a citizen of the country and he is alleged to have been a victim of a conspiracy.
